Etiqa Insurance pledges $100,000 as title sponsor of Etiqa Jurong Charity Golf 2015
Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong is Guest of Honour at Charity Event
Singapore, 19 August 2015 – Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd. has pledged $100,000 to sponsor Jurong Country Club’s (JCC) bi-annual charity golf event on 22 August. This underscores
Etiqa’s commitment to give back to the community.
An estimated $150,000 is expected to be raised from the event, including sales of golf flights. All proceeds from the charity event will benefit The Straits Times School Pocket Money
Fund, Lakeside Family Centre, Society for the Aged Sick and Association for Persons with Special Needs.
“As a financial institution, protecting underprivileged families is something we hold dear,” said Mr. Sue Chi Kong, Chief Executive of Etiqa Insurance Pte. Ltd.
Mr. Bobby Wee, Jurong Country Club’s President, said: “We are very grateful to Etiqa Insurance for sponsoring our charity golf event. This sponsorship is the latest in a longstanding
series of such events, which have helped the Club raise over $3 million for charity since 1999.
“Supporting charities, particularly local causes, is an essential part of the Club’s role in the Jurong community.
“It is regrettable to think that this will be one of the last charity golf events the Club will ever be able to host. We hope the authorities will find a way to continue the work our volunteers
have initiated and kept going all these years,” Mr. Wee said.
Besides sponsoring the charity golf event at JCC, Etiqa recently said it would join with Maybank to provide free personal accident insurance for 3,000 low-income families from
2015. In celebration of SG50, Etiqa and Maybank have jointly pledged $500,000 over three years for the programme.
Called the Maybank-Etiqa Family Shield, the plan covers the beneficiary and up to six dependents for two years against injury, permanent disablement and accidental death. The
maximum payout in the event of accidental death is S$50,000. Etiqa will underwrite this policy.
“We will continue to leverage our expertise as an insurer to do even more for the community,” Mr Sue said. After all, giving back is at the heart of all we do.”
