- Platform Workers can claim compensation within one year of accident, or up to the limitation period of the Occupational Disease even if they no longer work for the Platform Operator.
Platform Workers should notify their Platform Operator as soon as possible after the accident, so that the Platform Operator can lodge an injury report (iReport) to MOM.
MOM will forward a copy of the incident report to the Platform Operator’s insurer.
- Provides either ride-hail or delivery service
- Exercises management control over one or more Platform Workers
- Can be an individual or an entity
The Work Injury Compensation Act (WICA) covers the Platform Workers under all Platform Operators.
Platform Workers can claim under WICA if they were injured during:
- Pick-up – Begins travelling to the pick-up or collection point until the Platform Worker leaves the pick-up or collection location, including returning to the vehicle, where applicable for delivery platform services.
- Delivery – Begins travelling to the drop-off or delivery location until the Platform Worker leaves the drop-off or delivery location, including returning to the vehicle, where applicable for delivery platform services.
- Record the accident date, time and location.
- Take photographs of the accident site/damaged vehicle(s), injuries sustained.
- Record the contact details of witnesses, if any.
- Retrieve supporting information from the platform app or website to show which work task you were performing at during the time of the accident.
- Seek medical help.
- Inform your Platform Operator of the work accident as soon as possible.
- Cooperate with your Platform Operator and their insurer to provide supporting documents, such as the original medical certificates, medical reports, medical bills, or photographs of the accident to facilitate WIC claim processing.
Platform Workers will be able to claim for the following:
a) Compensation for medical leave wages

Compensation for light duties will not apply to Platform Workers.
b) Compensation for medical expenses
Platform Operators will pay for the medical expenses related to the work accident up to a maximum limit of $45,000 or 1 year from the date of the accident, whichever comes first.
